Family Life // Looking ahead to the New Year #MyMarks

Although it’s less than a month away, January feels a long way off for us… We have so much look to forward to over the next few weeks, including Busby’s school Christmas play (she’s playing Angel #1!), her fifth birthday, and of course – Christmas!

The lovely folk at Marks and Spencer have asked me to write about what we’re looking forward to in January, and I have to admit that January isn’t usually a month that I count down the days to. It signals the end of Christmas, it’s usually a little bit grey, and it’s quite a long month.

However, it is the start of a new year – which means a whole 12 months of adventures stretching ahead of us… and a new diary! Ooh, I always look forward to a new diary; fresh, crisp pages… plans filling up each month.

Our plan is to try and make 2018 as exciting and wondrous as possible, especially with Busby in school and H-Bear starting pre-school in September…

Where has that time gone?!

We have a number of local adventures planned once Bertie has had his jabs. I can’t wait until we can take him for daily walks – I’ve been feeling rather cabin feverish over the past few weeks. He’ll also be joining us on the school run – so I might have to factor in an extra 30 minutes just for doggy sniffing!

We have tentative plans for at least one Lake District adventure – which will involve a Bertie Pup in tow this year. It’s our favourite place to explore, so we can’t wait to return!

Busby will be starting her second term at school! She has settled into Reception marvellously, so I know she’ll be itching to go back after two weeks of holiday. And I might be ready to let her go back after two weeks off… maybe.

I’m not sure how she manages to get her uniform so utterly filthy every day, but needless to say I was very thankful for M&S, who sent us the top-up of uniform featured in this post, ahead of her returning to school in January!

Barring her school shoes and polo shirts, I bought all of her uniform from M&S in September because I know from reputation that the quality is amazing and extremely durable. We haven’t been disappointed.

From pinafores to cardigans – everything washes well and continues to look smart without too much ironing involved. (Thankfully!)

Not only do M&S sell a wonderful selection of clothing, but they also make gorgeous shoes! We were kindly sent a new pair of school shoes for B, as her current (non-M&S ones) have sprung a hole from playing football in the playground. I have faith that these beauties will last a little bit longer…!

Busby was also sent this gorgeous navy blue parka, which has the most insanely wonderful hood!

Everything Busby wears in this post is age 5-6 years, which fits well with room to grow; exactly what you want from a school uniform.

I can’t recommend M&S uniform – and clothing – enough. All of the garments are comfortable, durable, smart and excellent quality. Pop on over to the M&S Uniform Shop if you fancy browsing the whole range. I recommend checking out all of the gorgeous pinafores – and I’ve been very impressed with the multi-pack polo shirts.

So, Marks and Spencer, although we won’t be wishing Christmas away here at Make, Do & Push! HQ, January isn’t looking so terrible… and 2018 is going to be rather wonderful with our new furry family member joining us on adventures.

Oh she looks so smart. I love M&S school clothes (and kid’s clothes and mum clothes). My daughter was really skinny when she started school so we got lots of their skinny fit clothes. All her skirts and pinafores were from M&S, but the t-shirts which were more likely to get stained we bought cheap from super markets. All the M&S stuff still looks great a year later.

I’ve been so impressed with M&S too! The M&S polo shirts have faired better in the wash than the supermarket ones too - B usually absolutely covers them in food and mud xx
