I’m really looking forward to Mother’s Day on Sunday. After a hot cup of tea in bed (and perhaps a lie in?), we will be returning to our normal ‘Beach Sunday’ adventures, and exploring Wilsthorpe beach. It’s not one we’ve been to before; I discovered it whilst browsing Right Move the other night for dream houses on the coast (does anyone else do this? I’ve adopted it as a hobby recently – I’m looking for beams and an AGA) and it looks gorgeous.
H-Bear and I usually bake something every Friday to take with us on our Beach Sunday adventures, so we opted for a dairy and soya free Victoria sponge cake this week (the recipe is here). It’s one of my favourite types of cake, and quintessentially British for our ‘character building’ picnic on the Yorkshire coast in March!
Baking is one of our favourite activities to do together. H-Bear’s face always lights up when I suggest we pop our aprons on and get baking, and he takes so much happiness in licking the bowl out once we’re done. (It’s the best bit!)
H-Bear and I were kindly sent a new apron each from Victoria Eggs, who is stocked on Amazon Handmade.
If you haven’t heard of Amazon Handmade before, it is Amazon’s online marketplace where makers sell their unique, handmade creations. I love a handmade gift – and I especially love supporting British makers.
Victoria Eggs is not an independent brand I’ve heard of previously, but their items are so wonderful! They create fun and playful homeware and gifts, which are all proudly made in Britain. Their products are inspired by a love of all things British – and that most definitely shines through when browsing through the range.
H-Bear adores his new ‘London Icons’ apron, and had a wonderful time picking out the different transport (the buses were a firm favourite).
My ‘English Dinner’ apron is adorned with the names of traditional British food, which is very apt as it’s British pie week this week!
Both of our aprons are available to buy from Victoria Eggs on Amazon Handmade. Check out the whole range of handmade Mother’s Day gifts.
They look lovely and so does the cake! The nutritionist attached to our sure start centre wants Freddie seen by dietitian as he’s still having dairy issues so this cake looks good to try out!
Oh I’ve never heard of Amazon handmade! I use Amazon ALL the time too
I’ve never heard of Amazon Handmade but love the idea as much as licking the whisks! Happy mothers day too! x
