Last week we were kindly invited to stay in Scotland with Cameron Lodges in their gorgeous 5-star resort on Loch Lomond.
This is part two of our adventure on Loch Lomond. You can catch up with part one here.
Monday
Monday was the day that Busby was looking forward to the most – our Loch cruise on the Celtic Warrior. And what a treat it was!
The weather wasn’t supposed to be good, but we didn’t have any rain and the sun even made an appearance, so we sat on the top deck of the boat for the first part of the cruise.
The children were handed orange juice and we were handed champagne (don’t worry – I only had a couple of sips!), and the journey around the Loch began. Our guide talked to us about the islands on the Loch and the properties on the banks. It was so interesting and the scenery was absolutely beautiful.
After a while, we headed downstairs and Busby had a go at driving the boat. She loved it so much that she spent the rest of the cruise down there on the steering wheel, asking to go faster!
The staff were absolutely amazing with the children and so friendly. We had a wonderful time aboard the Celtic Warrior and it was such a gorgeous way to see Loch Lomond and learn a little more about its history.
We returned to the lodge for lunch (on the balcony again – at H-Bear’s request), and then we went for a walk to The Enchanted Wood to take some photos and show Nick the fairies.
We followed a little group of people after the wood to be nosey and see where they were going, and found ourselves on a small beach. We spent an hour skimming stones and enjoying the sunshine on our faces – the views were incredible.
By that point, I was needing a sugar hit so we decided to pop into the Claret Jug for a drink before returning to the lodge for our final night.
Tuesday
We left the gorgeous “123 House” (as H-Bear called it) on Tuesday. We had to check-out by 10am, which we actually managed for the first time ever since becoming parents! Check-out was seamless and we waved goodbye to Cameron House with sadness after such a lovely long weekend.
We were so lucky with the weather during our stay – although not so much on the journey home!
We had the most wonderful break in Scotland with Cameron Lodges and I would definitely recommend a stay if you’re planning a visit to Loch Lomond.
The staff were all so friendly and helpful, the Concierge service added such a wonderful touch of luxury to our experience (and meant Nick could have a couple of drinks!), and the children absolutely adored our little adventure. I would never have thought a 5-star resort would be so child-friendly – but Busby and H-Bear were made to feel so welcome everywhere we went.
The ‘123 House’ (I think Cameron Lodges need to rename it on the website – it’s quite catchy) costs £189 per night, which is extremely reasonable for a self-catering lodge that sleeps 6, especially when access to the gorgeous pool and Thermal Experience are included in your stay, as well as the Concierge service.
Our Loch Lomond adventure has given me a taste for Scotland, and we’re hoping to return next year to do some more exploring.
Thank you so much for having us Cameron Lodges! To find out more information about renting a lodge, please visit the Cameron Lodges website.
