Stranger Things is one of our favourite programmes. Nick and I have watched both seasons twice now (and also Beyond Stranger Things to get our fix!). And, because we’ve spent most of this afternoon listening to the soundtrack while I created this cocktail, we’ve been talking about re-watching it.
Dustin is definitely my favourite character… closely followed by Steve Harrington (in the second season only – he’s not so great in season one). Also, how glorious is Millie Bobby Brown?!
Anyway, I digress…
The folk at Red Candy sent us these gorgeous LSA gin balloon glasses and Y&G Stranger Things art print (which now has pride of place on the wall next to my desk), so I thought I would do something a little different over the Bank Holiday weekend and create a cocktail inspired by the alternate universe in Stranger Things – The Upside Down.
It’s very easy to make – and tastes absolutely delicious! It’s slightly bitter (Nick agreed that a cocktail inspired by Stranger Things probably couldn’t be sweet) and I love how it’s purple, red and dark – reminiscent of The Upside Down.
The Upside Down
Sloe gin (I used Sipsmiths) – 25ml
Fentimans Mediterranean Tonic
Ice
Frozen Blueberries
Method
1. Pour gin into glass (about 25ml)
2. Top up with tonic (2/3 of glass)
3. Add ice and blueberries
4. Drink!!
The wonderful Y&G Stranger Things print costs £15, and there are lots of different styles to suit your home. I loved the colours in this one as they fit in perfectly with our family room.
The LSA Gin Balloon glasses are £26.50. I adore LSA glassware, and we’ve been searching for a pair of gin balloon glasses for months – so these are ideal.
Both of the above items can be found on the Red Candy website. Pop on over to check out their whole range of awesome gifts!
