Baking a Bun // 12 weeks pregnant

Sunday 20th May 2018

I’m 12 weeks pregnant today! Yay! Bun is the size of a small ‘Roborovski’ hamster according to my app.

I woke up this morning with an awful headache, so went back to sleep… Headache continued until about 11am when I promptly threw up everything I’d eaten this morning and then felt loads better! Pregnancy is WEIRD!

Look at this lovely little bump though!

Tuesday 22nd May 2018

We have our 12 week scan tomorrow and I’m so nervous! The flutterings are still there, as is the sickness and nausea, so I’m taking all this as good news and have everything crossed that we will see a beautiful baby with a lovely heartbeat on the screen tomorrow.

I’m working today, but I’m sat here in bed feeling absolutely terrified ahead of tomorrow and concentration isn’t at its best right now!

Cravings so far this week mostly include cheese… also salty meat appeals, as does cake. So all really healthy things! Although saying that, I have been enjoying cherry tomatoes (which I’m not usually a fan of).

I’ve not been sleeping well this week. I’m having to pee at least once in the night, and getting back to sleep afterwards always seems like a struggle. Also, I’m a back or right side sleeper, so I’m trying to train myself to sleep on my left side again… which I find quite difficult. Oh, and I’m having crazy dreams – so all in all, nothing that is particularly conducive to good night’s sleep!

And there you are! I was so convinced something would be wrong; that Bun wouldn’t be alive anymore, so when the sonographer turned her screen towards us I burst into tears!

Bun’s dates are right on his/her measurements, so we’re still looking at 2nd December as a due date (although I have a feeling Bun will be here in November).

You can read more about the scan here.

We all slept in this morning as Nick turned his alarm off in his sleep! Definitely feeling better for it though. I’ve been sleeping a lot better since the scan – although I’m having some crazy, vivid dreams! I’m really looking forward to the bank holiday weekend ahead…

I’ve also booked our early gender scan today! We’re going to be working with Window to the Womb over the next few months, and they’ve offered us a gender scan (and a 4D scan later on in the pregnancy), so I’ll be writing ALL about that on here. We find out whether Bun is a boy or a girl on 30th June – eek!

Saturday 26th May 2018

I haven’t really felt sick at all today! It’s a miracle! I’ve also had lots more energy – which is a good thing as we’ve been insanely busy. I’m hoping this is the beginning of the end of the first trimester. I’ve really wanted meat today… I had a steak sandwich for lunch and then we had a BBQ for dinner! I’m probably about 70% sure that Bun is a boy… the only thing niggling away at me is that H-Bear’s pregnancy hangover lasted until about 17 weeks, but Busby’s stopped at 13, and I’ve been starting to feel much better over the past few days. I think it’s time to start working my way through the old wives tales like I did in H-Bear’s pregnancy… haha!
