Motherhood // One whole year of school

It’s crazy to think that Busby is approaching one whole year of school. With the Easter Holidays now well behind us, we are swiftly coming to the end of term – and the end of Reception.

*Sob!*

Come September, my eldest bear will be starting year one (and my littlest bear starting preschool), and I’m not sure my hormonal pregnant self can quite comprehend this.

This past year has seen a huge change in Busby. She seems to have elongated and stretched out, truly turning from a preschooler into a school girl.

Busby loves school. She has made a wonderful group of friends, her kindness is constantly commended, and the fact that they serve custard almost every lunchtime goes down incredibly well with her!

Her role as Angel #1 in the school nativity will forever be ingrained in my mind; and I was so chuffed to be able to see both performances. She said her one line with confidence, and sang and danced like an absolute pro.

She’s also a fountain of knowledge; excelling in Maths and writing… and absolutely adoring her after-school French club. So I wanted to do something to thank her teachers, who always go above and beyond, for helping her flourish in her first year at school.

The lovely folk at Snapfish got in touch a few weeks ago and asked me to choose some personalised goodies for Busby’s teachers as a thank you. I spent ages browsing, choosing and personalising the perfect gifts – and now I feel extremely chuffed (and a teeny bit smug) that I’m so prepared for the end of term!

Please note that the teachers full surnames are on the original items, but in the interest of safeguarding the school I have removed them from this post.

All of the teachers I know survive on caffeine and biscuits after late nights marking and early starts to be at school for preparation, so I felt like a new mug each would be a good place to start!

These mugs are pre-designed and come in a variety of colours. Regular readers will know that I can’t resist a botanical themed item, and I love that you can personalise them with names, photos, fonts and even the inner shade of the mug can be changed.

Then I came across these amazing ‘Teachers Notes’ and, as a self-confessed stationery addict, I thought who wouldn’t LOVE these?! I can imagine the children being over the moon after receiving one of the teacher’s special notes in their work (I know I would be pretty chuffed).

And finally, I wanted to find all of her teachers the perfect thank you card. I found these floral ones, which tie the gifts nicely together, and I added ‘for helping me to grow’ underneath the beautiful wreath. Again, like the mugs, there are a variety of colours to choose from.

The square prints above are also from Snapfish. I like to peg square photos up in our family room and change them every year or so, so they’re up to date.

The Snapfish website has a plethora of fantastic end of term gift ideas, and Make, Do & Push! readers can also get 40% off site wide with code SCHOOLFUN.
