Baking a Bun // 20 weeks pregnant

Monday 16th July 2018

I turned 20 weeks pregnant yesterday! I’m now officially halfway through Bun’s pregnancy! How crazy is that? I still can’t believe how quickly this is going.

Bun is now around 10 inches long and according to my app, is the size of a paper aeroplane. She should weigh around 300g.

Today has been a mixed bag. On the one hand, I’ve been feeling a lot more energetic; so I think I might be semi-blooming. On the other hand, I’ve had a stinking headache all day. The weather has been really close and muggy today though, so I’m hoping the predicted storm tonight will clear the air somewhat.

One very exciting thing that happened today was that I saw Bun move my tummy! She was kicking away while I had a small rest after my post-school run shower (it was NEEDED!). So lovely! This is definitely one of my favourite things about pregnancy.

This week I’m finding myself either massively constipated or having an upset tummy (sorry TMI, but no one really talks about this side of pregnancy). There’s no happy medium. The upset tummies always seem to happen on the school run too…

I’ve been craving smoked salmon quite a lot this week, as well as pasta. Carbs and salt basically!

And just like that, the first year of school is done! I can’t quite believe Busby has finished Reception… but I am very much looking forward to a break from the school run! Especially as my tummy has been so bad this week.

I had the most glorious pregnancy massage today (thank you Nick for booking it for me!) – it was definitely one of the best massages I have ever had. I spent most of the time lying there, focussing on the baby in my tummy, which was such a treat as I don’t get much time to just sit and appreciate her and everything my body is doing. The foot and leg massage was incredible, and my feet felt so much lighter walking home.

I have my ’20 week’ scan on Sunday, so fingers crossed all is ok and that Bun is still a girl! Otherwise I’m going to be spending next week returning lots of clothes…!
