28 weeks! Apparently Bun is the size of a bunch of bananas this week and it definitely feels like she’s getting bigger! She keeps getting herself stuck in very uncomfortable places… and I find myself on all-fours trying to get her to shift.
I had my 28 week midwife appointment today. Unfortunately I had the grumpy midwife again who doesn’t really approve of home birth, so I’m very happy that Nick was with me. The language she used when talking about home birth was so negative and if I hadn’t already had a home birth, I might be deterred. I really hope she doesn’t turn up at the birth though, as I get the impression she’s not the sort of midwife to leave me alone while I do my own thing like the midwives at H-Bear’s birth… The temptation to free birth or hire a private midwife gets stronger with every appointment. If only money were no object.
I’m measuring exactly on 28 weeks which is great news, and the baby’s heartbeat is lovely and strong. Even though we had our 4D scan on Saturday, it was nice to get reassurance again today.

I have not stopped nesting today! I’ve bleached the entire kitchen… which is very unlike me! It smells incredible though. Cravings this week are definitely smell-related. I love the smell of bleach!

I had to go to hospital today to have my bloods taken as the midwife wasn’t able to take them on Monday. However, I had a funny turn as I got off the train, so ended up sat in a coffee shop for 45 minutes until I felt strong enough to get to the hospital.
I had my bloods taken and the lovely blood lady fetched the midwife for me, as I’d explained what had happened and she thought I looked very pale. The midwife spoke to me a little bit like this was my first pregnancy… and told me that dizziness is normal in pregnancy. She did say that it’s probably due to tiredness though, and that I needed to start taking it easier now I’m in the third trimester (I walked 7 miles yesterday doing school runs etc). Nick came to pick me up, his parents did the afternoon school run and I had a nap. We’ve talked about cutting down the amount I’m walking as I can’t keep it up every day – especially the more pregnant I get – and have come up with a solution that sees me doing afternoon school runs only, with a total break on Fridays. Thank goodness for wonderful family, friends and a very understanding husband!
I can’t believe I’m 29 weeks on Sunday! Soon the countdown will be into single figures and, still, none of it seems real…
