Siblings // September 2018

September! And we’re all back to school, including H-Bear who started at preschool last week and is absolutely loving his time there. I’m so proud of how he’s taken to his new preschool! We’ve had no tears at drop off, he gets to spend the day playing with colours, numbers and shapes, and gives me the hugest cuddle and loudest “MUMMY!” when he sees me at pick-up. I was so worried he would struggle with the change, but so far, he has embraced it fully.

I took this month’s photos at Skidby Mill on a dog walk last weekend. Even though H-Bear wasn’t feeling 100%, we still ended up having a really lovely walk, and as I walked hand-in-hand with Nick, I said to him: “This is exactly how I imagined our life in Yorkshire would be.” With Bertie, Busby, H-Bear and Bun, all of us wearing wellies, outside in the fresh air. It makes me so happy and I know we’ve made completely the right decision with our relocation from the South East, however hard it was initially.

It was a wonderful Sunday afternoon walk, with lots of laughter! We tried to get Bertie to go through the children’s legs as they wanted to make him a tunnel. It worked a few times, before he got fed up!

I’m now almost 29 weeks pregnant, so the final countdown is truly on until we meet Bun. We took Busby and H-Bear to our 4D scan last weekend, and it was so incredible. They both thought the gel the sonographer put on my bump was “yucky”, H-Bear kept asking why the baby “was in water”, and Busby’s face when she saw her little sister for the first time was magical. Although neither of them sat still for more than two minutes, I’m so glad we took them with us. And wow, Bun looks so like a mixture of the two of them – but especially like Busby! I can’t wait to meet her.

It sounds funny, but I’m feeling more and more like a ‘real’ mum at the moment with these crazy school runs at two different schools, H-Bear’s packed lunch to prepare and various after school clubs and during school meetings to attend. Obviously I’ve been a mum for six years now, but everything just feels more real for some reason at the moment. Perhaps it’s some heightened pregnancy sense they don’t tell you about?

Busby has taken to Year 1 like a duck to water and is loving every moment. Although her teachers last year were great, these ones seem on a whole new level of lovely, plus they’re excellent at communicating! She doesn’t stop talking about what she’s been up to at school all the way home, which is wonderful as she hardly spoke about her school day last year.

So yes, a happy update for us this month. It’s hard to believe that next month’s photos will be of us picking pumpkins! Time is flying!
