36 weeks! 36 weeks?! Honestly, this pregnancy has flown by. I can’t believe I’ve reached 36 weeks already!
This week, Bun is about the size of a Cabbage Patch Doll and should weigh around 6lb. However, if she’s anything like her sister, she’ll be a tiny dot when she comes out. (Busby was 6lb 14oz at 41+1).
I had my 36 week midwife appointment today and it was so positive. I saw the lovely midwife who I’ve been hoping to see during this pregnancy, but have never seemed to get an appointment with. I saw her a little bit during H-Bear’s pregnancy (and post-natally), and for my booking appointment for our lost baby last year. The super-friendly, positive student midwife was there too, as I’m now officially her case study. She was very excited (as am I!).
Bun is 2/5 engaged, which is excellent news for a third baby! My iron levels are back up too (it’s all the sprouts I’ve been eating) and we’re off to the hospital on Friday to pick up my home birth box. It all feels pretty real now…

I COMPLETELY forgot to say last week that I’M BACK ON TEA! I don’t know whether it was a combination of the beautiful Lakes tap water and fresh air, but I woke up one morning wanting a cup of Yorkshire Gold and haven’t looked back since. I feel so happy! I was slightly concerned that I might be giving birth to Bun in the Lakes though, as I haven’t been able to stomach it for months now, and I thought it might be a sign.
I’ve had confirmation that our birthing pool is being delivered on Saturday morning and last night I edited H-Bear’s birth plan to bring it more up to date. I had quite a few interested messages on Instagram, so I thought I might write a blog post if I get a chance… it basically says: “Please leave me alone and help yourselves to tea and cake in the kitchen while I get on with it” haha.
I’ve had a really horrid cold since coming back from the Lakes. Today is the first day I feel relatively human. Being poorly during pregnancy shouldn’t be possible; I think our bodies have to put up with enough!
It’s my work day today, so I’m spending the morning in bed on the laptop until I have to move to take photos. I’ve also put on a baby wash! Eek! I really need to get some more first size/0-3 months clothes though – we seem to have lots of 3-6 months.

I am on home birth countdown now. As soon as I turn 37 weeks (tomorrow!), I am ‘allowed’ to have my home birth. It’s all very exciting!
Our birthing pool was delivered this morning and we picked up the home birth box from the Midwife Led Unit last night. Sadly, the box is not as exciting as it sounds… it’s just a glorified bin. But it is now sat in our living room, awaiting our home birth! The pool is VERY exciting though and we’ll be having a test run next weekend ahead of the big day (unless she decides to arrive before then, of course!).
Next week is a busy one, with an extremely pointless appointment with the Health Visitor, a nursery to paint, MANY baby clothes to wash, my pre-baby haircut and colour, and our final hypnobirthing refresher session.
